Results of the 12 season of the international antiracist campaign Action Week

Having archived the 12 edition of Fare Action Week, international campaign against racism in football in which Uisp was part of the activities in Italy, we are tracing a complete analysis of the initiative together with Piara Powar, English, executive director of the Fare (Football Against Racism in Europe) network: “We are very satisfied with this edition of the campaign, we promoted initiatives in 40 countries all over Europe and sustained these activities through hundreds of small finances to many local projects, totaling 65,000 euros across the continent”.

Piara and the other components in the coordination of the Fare network came together in Rome on Friday November 4th, in anticipation of the international networks congress that will take place in Italy this coming year: “In all of Europe, during the 40 matches of Champions League and Europa League, Uefa has organized various actions against racism such as having team captains read messages against discrimination before the starting whistle”.

“This year we have also had the participation of many national football federations, among which the Italian FIGC, which has involved some of its national team players. For the future we plan on continuing on this road trying always to involve more communities of migrants, because compared to the past, there has been and increase in anti-racist organizations but a sensible decrease of migrant communities”.

This last consideration calls upon Daniela Conti, Uisp representative to the Fare network and present member at the Rome conference. Was it this way also in Italy? “We are also satisfied by all that we have done for Action Week, together with many other groups of fans and associations. In regards to migrant communities we are going against the usual trend, as in we were able to involve many more of these groups as compared to past years”.
